It should be clear now to all American progressives that we cannot rely upon the leadership of the Democratic Party to do the right thing. We need to lead from the grassroots, and push Congress to repeal the Patriot Act.

Unfortunately, right wing Supreme Court justices appointed by Republican candidates saw things differently, and ruled to overturn the power of the Clean Water Act to protect a huge number of American waterways and wetlands. Some in Congress are working to overcome that problem with a new piece of legislation to restore the integrity of the Clean Water Act. The bill is called the Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007.
