The green spires behind Barack Obama could represent leaves, or positive energy such as solar energy. So, it could be an environmentalist message.

Obama standing in front of the green design could just as easily represent him standing in accord with the Green Party, though. So, it could be a button made for registered Green voters who support Obama for President.

That’s the power of political buttons that use graphics as a primary means of expression. There’s enough communication to make your basic position known, but enough ambiguity to inspire interest on the part of people who see the button, and want to know more.
