Clinton and Obama. Obama and Clinton. The way that the news media plays it, you’d think that the only two candidates for the Democratic nomination were Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. When they’re doing a wee bit of a better job, the reporters merely call Clinton and Obama “the major Democratic candidates” and then mention that the other candidates don’t have a chance. How do the reporters know who’s a major candidate? It boils down to money and opinion polls. Of course, democracy isn’t supposed to be for sale, and the opinion polls have proven inaccurate so far.So, on the eve of the Nevada Democratic presidential primary of 2008, let’s remember that only two small states have had elections so far. Iowa and New Hampshire, and that’s it. The Democratic presidential nomination race remains wide open, and other Democratic candidates, like John Edwards, and are still in play.Declare your independence from the pundit-prophets of 2008, and declare your support for John Edwards for President with this campaign button.
